The highest awards for “Poligrodzianie”!
At the 5th World Championship of Folklore held in Burgas – Nessebar in Bulgaria / 20-30 August 2015 / Folk Dance Ensemble of the Poznan University of Technology received:
– A gold medal in the folk groups and music-vocal and dance group category
– Grand Prix of the Festival – “Golden Orpheus”
– The title of Absolute World Championship of Folklore 2015
The prize included also a photo session for the selected pair from Poligrodzianie team for any advertising material at the next year’s World Championship in 2016. In addition, information about the winners was sent to approx. 150 festivals in the world, UNESCO and other leading cultural organizations such as the IOV CIOFF, EFCO and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Warsaw.
The closing ceremony of the competition was watched online by more than a million people!
The event involved 32 previously classified folk groups from all over the world. Last year’s winner came from Malaysia.
The success of Poligrodzianie has crowned the achievements of the group in the last 5 years: from winning the Olympics Folk Theatre in India through the Main Jury Prize in Malaysia, winning the European Folk Culture Organization -to the gala concert on the 40th Anniversary of activity organized in H. Cegielski Plant in Poznan (considered to be the most interesting folk event in Europe in 2013) and obtaining “The Best of Poland” quality certification in 2014.
