Some people are surprised when they hear that a technical university holds a folklore festival. But nowadays, when we are surrounded with virtual reality, this is crucial for our development – said professor Tomasz Łodygowski, Rector of Poznań University of Technology, during inauguration of the 8th Folklore Festival.
The festival organised by the University Centre of Culture (UCK) and Poligrodzianie Association took place between 21 and 24 August.
The festival attracted folklore groups from Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey and Italy, as well as Poligrodzianie folk dance group founded by Poznań University of Technology, and Konin dancing and singing group.
Over those several days in August the locals from Greater Poland could participate in concerts and workshops.
The project received support of Greater Poland Marshal’s Office, Gniezno Town Hall and Staroste’s Office in Poznań.
