Is there anything better than a carnival evening in an excellent company and pleasant atmosphere? These plus a performance by a great artist took place on 14 January 2015 during a New Year’s Meeting at Poznań University of Technology.
This year our special guest was Zbigniew Wodecki, an artist who has been popular for years and whose music is well-known to a few generation of Poles.
In a short speech before the concert, His Magnificence prof. dr hab. inż. Tomasz Łodygowski, Rector of Poznań University of Technology, gave thanks to all employees for a year of hard work, and wished them a lot of success in the following 12 months.
The performance of Zbigniew Wodecki will live on in our memory. The audience joined in to sing hits such as “Zacznij od Bacha…”, “Opowiadaj mi tak”, or a Polish version of “Ciao bambino”. There were also some songs from the artist’s newest album. We witnessed the mastery of the violinist when Zbigniew Wodecki performed “Czardasz”. However, the biggest round of applause was given after… “Pszczółka Maja”! The audience had a great time and rewarded the artist and the accompanying musicians with a loud applause.
The New Year’s Meeting was graced with the presence of representatives of higher schools – prof. dr hab. Bronisław Marciniak, Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and prof. dr hab. Jerzy Smorawiński, Rector of the Academy of Physical Education, representatives of central and national authorities, among others Piotr Florek, Voivode of Greater Poland, and Jan Grabkowski, Staroste of Poznań, and delegates from firms that cooperate with Poznań University of Technology.
