Piano Recital of Mr. Łukasz Byrdy

On November 30, 2015, in the Lecture Centre of PUT in Aula Magna, ul. Piotrowo 2, at 7:00 p.m. there was a concert of an extremely talented artist – Mr. Łukasz Byrdy, Poland’s only representative in the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition. His Magnificence Rector of Poznań University of Technology, prof. dr hab. inż. Tomasz Łodygowski, opened the concert. A few words about music were said by the former director of Poznań Philharmonic, Mr. Jerzy Laskowski.

The pianist played pieces such as: Ballade F minor op.52; Scherzo C-sharp minor op.39; Nocturne C-sharp minor op.48 no. 1; Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante E-flat major op.22; Sonata B-flat minor op.35; Waltz A-flat major op.42; Polonaise A-flat major op.53. The captive audience listened attentively to the music.

Łukasz Byrdy

Born on 29 June 1994 in Katowice. Currently a student of the Musical Academy of Ignacy Jan Paderewski in Poznań, grand piano class of prof. Waldemar Andrzejewski and dr hab. Joanna Marcinkowska. A winner of many international and national competitions. He gives concerts in the country and abroad (USA, Canada, Russia, Austria, Italy, Germany). His first record with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor is due to be released in January 2016.
